On Sunday, September 13, members from Sioux Falls Up & Coming took part in the inaugural Grandparent's Day Festival at Dow Rummel Village in Sioux Falls.
The group was divided up between the basketball court and face-painting stations, with the basketball volunteers enjoying the company and talents of a number of children and grandchildren of the Dow Rummel residents and our expert face-painter, Lucy, making her mark on faces across the celebration.
The Grandparent's Day Festival was created to honor grandparents on National Grandparent's Day, host a fun-filled afternoon, and to create memories with all generations. In addition to the basketball and face-painting stations, there was also a worship service, science demo, old time show-and-tell, trivia, and Kazuke's.
Attendees also enjoyed music from John Mogen and Phil Baker, a Photo Booth, inflatables, therapy dogs, a scavenger hunt, a craft station, and hot dogs and ice cream!
Dow Rummel Village provides friendly, secure retirement living that meets the ever-changing needs of a diverse population in a community sustained by Christian spirit and service.
